Hold on folks, this entry is mostly going to be about itself. Excited? Good. We've only just gotten started and we're already off to a fantastic start. How far have we made it yet? Well, we're not even finished with the first paragraph.
How about now that we've started the second paragraph? This is even wilder than before. We're already several words into this paragraph and even more words into this entry now. Wow. Right now you're probably thinking that this entry could use a picture. I agree.
There's a beautiful image from Kyoto, Japan (not to be mistaken for Kyoto, Nebraska). Notice how the curvy rooftops look so beautiful. Who would have ever thought to build things this way? Who would have guessed that making things like that would have turned out awesome? I could just travel there some day. I think I really could. But let's not get distracted by this! This is not the subject of this entry...
You're here to read this entry discuss itself and I'm here to facilitate that by typing the words out. That's what's fascinating, isn't it? The words are out there in "concept space", or if you want to be much less grandiose about it all, they're just in a dictionary. Then they get written down and somehow they actualize. It's like Piaget's Pyramid of things that an entity strives to do. This all makes sense when we psychoanalyze a person, but what we're doing right now is extending that to words -- which begin as concepts.
Concepts, like the ones in this entry, are merely words that have been typed out in an order that "makes sense". How? How is that happening? They don't know. Right now, the words being typed out in this entry are making sense (at least to me, the one writing them), but they don't understand how. In fact, I don't really understand how it's happening either. If you think you get it, then please explain in the comments section. Good luck!
(Alexander Litovchenko, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons)That's an image of Ivan a.k.a. "The Terrible". But who is Ivan? Is he the one sitting down in the chair with the yellow shirt on? He couldn't possibly be the one on the floor asking for a hand getting back up (man, I've been sitting here for so long, my leg's fallen asleep. Can you give me a hand getting back up?) Is he the guy in the red coat who looks like he doesn't want to help the guy stand up (I'm sorry, man, but I pulled my lower back lifting some boxes a couple of days ago. Maybe someone else here could give you a hand.... Anyone?)
We're getting off topic again, aren't we. Breathe in; breathe out. Let's try to focus on what we're thinking about. Wait, that's not it. We're focusing on what we're writing and we're writing about what we're writing about. It's recursive all the way back to the beginning... How long ago was that? Thirteen billion years? Something like that, right? That was a long time ago, at least a lot longer than any human life. It's going to be really crazy when it's thirteen billion years in the future. That will be a long time after I'm dead. That will happen much sooner than that. In fact, the more I think about that, the more I realize that it's going to happen too soon. No matter how far off...
You see, when we try to meditate, we end up thinking about all kinds of things. It's difficult to focus on focusing without getting utterly distracted.
